HIP-HOPR&B POP ROCK TOP MUSIC | Godsmack Sets Release Date For New AlbumGodsmack Sets Release Date For New AlbumBy: Don Kaye Godsmack has set May 4th as the release date for its fifth studio album, The Oracle, according to Tunelab Music. The first single from the set, "Crying Like A Bitch," arrived online and at rock radio this week and is likely to follow in the footsteps of the group's 17 previous Top 10 hits at active rock radio. Frontman Sully Erna told us that he's proud of the band's track record so far: "You know, it is nice to know that we're creating stuff that's just kind of living on and that does really well in the active rock stations and the hard rock world and that kind of stuff. So we're in that middle ground. We're not quite as poppy as like Aerosmith, but yet we're not as dark and metal as, you know, the Slipknots or the Metallicas or whatever. So we're kind of like that in-between band." The Oracle was originally going to be titled Saints & Sinners. The CD follows up 2006's IV and a nearly two-year hiatus that ended last summer when Godsmack joined the Crue Fest 2 tour. During their break, the band released a greatest hits set, while the rest of the group minus Erna issued an album under the name Another Animal. Erna has also been working on his first solo effort. |
